Santa Sophia parish has adopted an apartment at El Nido, an apartment complex owned by the Ecumenical Council and operated by the Interfaith Shelter Network. The apartment complex provides an apartment and programs to assist women and their children who are victims of domestic violence to get out on their own and to be successful away from the abusive situation through support groups, educational programs, and events that help them learn a new way of living, free from abuse.
Santa Sophia refurnishes the apartment between tenants and provides other support to the tenant throughout her stay at El Nido. You can be involved in this opportunity to turn lives around by donating needed furnishings and food items, during the donation drives, or money at any time (make the check out to Santa Sophia with "El Nido" on the memo line).
