Mass Moved Outside: Message from Fr Devdas 7/14/2020

Dear Parishioners,

Starting Wednesday, July 15, all church services must be held outside pursuant to the Orders of Governor Newsom and the County of San Diego.  Therefore, starting tomorrow, daily Mass at Santa Sophia will be celebrated outside, on the school parking lot, by the EDC office.  You may use the school office gate to enter the parking lot. Our daily Mass and penance schedule will remain unchanged.  There will be no seating arrangements, so please bring your own chair or blanket, a hat, bottled water, a face covering, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, and any other items you may need.  With the original shutdown, several parishes had already started celebrating Mass outside, and it has been largely successful.  Hopefully, we will be able to adjust quickly, so that our parishioners may continue to celebrate Mass and receive the Sacraments.

I know that we all want to attend Mass and receive the Eucharist, but please be prepared to face some restrictions and inconveniences while attending Mass on the parking lot.  I ask for your continued patience and understanding; I very much need your support during this time.  Though circumstances may not be ideal, it is a blessing that we are able to gather in some capacity to worship and receive the Lord in the Eucharist.

Starting this weekend, reservations are no longer required for weekend Masses.  However, I have a meeting scheduled this afternoon to discuss what we can do to facilitate weekend Masses.  I will let you know our decision by this evening.

God bless!

Fr. Devdas
