Position Title:  Administrative Assistant (DRE)                  Exemption Status: Non-exempt

Reports To:  Director, Religious Education (DRE)           Hours: Part Time – 19 per week


Position Summary

 The Administrative Assistant for the Parish Catechetical Office is responsible for providing administrative support to the Parish Catechetical Director and most importantly the administrative assistant should foster a welcoming environment that encourages a deep love for Christ and His Church.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Answer telephones in a professional manner
  • Assist in maintaining catechetical database/records
  • Prepare and send regular and bulk mailings
  • Assist in ordering books, supplies and materials
  • Attend staff and planning meetings when appropriate
  • Type routine correspondence
  • Compiles, types, designs and formats workshop flyers and materials
  • Shopping for and preparation of workshops and meetings
  • Assist with accounting records; maintain petty cash
  • Assists in payment of accounts payable and maintains financial records
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Must be well organized; able to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experienced and familiar with Microsoft Office 2010
  • Must be proficient in (insert parish program utilized)
  • Friendly, service driven with excellent people skills
  • Professional demeanor
  • Basic Catechist Certification required
  • Thorough knowledge and familiarity with the organizational structure and practices of the Roman Catholic Church


Education & Experience:

 Two years’ experience with administrative and office procedures required

  • Experience in catechetic and catechetical terminology preferred
