Vera Louise Lowrey Passes Away

Vera Louise Lowrey

June 16, 1941                         June 2, 2017

Vera Louise Ruggles was born in Brooklyn, New York. Her family moved to San Diego in 1952, during the Korean War. She attended school in San Diego. Some years later she met a young Marine from New Mexico, Martin Lowrey. They married in August of 1961 and raised five children, four girls and one boy, over the next 56 years.

Vera worked for Foodmaker/Jack-in-the-Box Payroll Department for thirty-five years. She leaves behind many Jack-in-the-Box friends.

Vera loved to watch her kids play Little League baseball and/or softball. She spent a lot of time at Morley Field during the 70’s and early 80’s. She loved watching the Padres’ games on TV. She and her sister enjoyed taking their children to Padres games. She still loved to watch girls’ College Softball on TV.

Vera looked forward to attending mass every Sunday. For many years she attended Mass with her family at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Park. After moving to East County, she attended Mass at Santa Sophia Catholic Church in Spring Valley, with her daughter.

Vera is survived by her husband, Martin Lowrey, Sr., and five children, Kimberly Lowrey, Kristen & Enrico Gorman, and Stephanie & Pedro Estrada, (all of San Diego), Debra & Ed McDaniel (Idaho), and Martin Lowrey, Jr. (Arizona). Also, there are six granddaughters, Miranda & Kambria McDaniel and Kellynn Harder (Idaho), Heaven and Chrysanthemum Estrada (San Diego) and Heaven Lee Lowrey, (Arizona), and one great-granddaughter, Shannan Loogman (Idaho). She is also survived by her siblings, Dolly Cole (San Diego) and Richard Farrell (Illinois) along with several nieces and nephews in San Diego and out of state.

She was the cornerstone of her family and will be greatly missed by all. She had a great sense of humor and often laughed at herself as she told of her ‘antics’. Her family, friends and former co-workers have lost a great friend. They will continue to share “Vera” stories for many years to come. It is our time to say, “God Bless You and I Love You.”

Final Good byes: Viewing Friday, 6/9/17, 4-7:00 PM with the Rosary to follow from 7-8:00 PM at El Cajon Mortuary, 684 S. Mollison Ave., El Cajon.
