As the foundational Christian sacrament, baptism gives people a share in the life and mission of Jesus Christ. The baptized no longer belong to themselves, but to God. It is the first step in a life-long journey of discipleship--following and obeying Jesus Christ.
Adults
Adults who are not baptized may prepare for this sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic Church through the RCIA process.
Families prepare together for the baptism of infants and toddlers. Families must be Catholics in good standing with the parish for a minimum of six months before requesting baptism for their children and parents are encouraged to begin the preparation process before their child is born.
Baptism celebrations are usually held on scheduled Sundays at 1:00 PM
Children of catechetical age (about 7 and up) may have other methods of preparing for Baptism.
Email or call the Catechetical Ministry Office (619-463-6011) for more information about the full process to schedule a Baptism.
Sponsors and Godparents must be Catholics in good standing with their parish for at least 6 months. Applicants must meet with our priest or with their parish priest to review their own formation and the responsibility that they share for the baptized.
