Oscar (Scotty) Guerrero, Sr., departed his earthly home to join the Lord on January 23, 2018. He was born in Talofofo, Guam on December 24, 1950 to the late Jesus and Maria Guerrero. He graduated George Washington High School in 1969, enlisted in the Navy and proudly served his country for 23 years. In January 1992, he decided to retire from the Navy, but soon realized that the retirement life was not for him. Later that same year, Oscar (Scotty), got a job with the Naval Medical Center San Diego, where he proudly worked as a Financial Analyst for the next 24 years. After working for 47 years, he finally retired in December 2016.
He participated in a bowling league, only because of the love he has for his wife, and was an “ornery & feisty” Master at Arms for the Barrigada San Roke Group. But to everyone that knows him, his biggest passion was golf, most especially the Chamorro Golf Club of San Diego
He met the love of his life (Mae) in 1972 and we’re married on April 27, 1974. Their love and life were shared with their three children: Paul Guerrero, Oscar “Scotty” (Meilani) Guerrero, Jr. (Michelle Cuomo) and Melanie “Princess” (Lawrence) Gaona. With more love, the family grew to 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren: Cherisse (Avery) Reyes, Chanserei (Jazelle) Scharff, Lilly Guerrero, Nick Guerrero, Kailanie Guerrero, Keanu Guerrero, Alexis Guerrero, Janika Gaona, Lawrence”LJ” Gaona and Athena Gaona.
He was greeted into Heaven by 2 grandchildren: Ruby Guerrero and Oscar (Scotty Boy) Guerrero, III.
He is survived by his sisters: Lilia (Alfredo) Garcia, Paz (Roland) Combado, Victoria (Joseph) Heape, Annie (Fred) Anglin, Ramona (Frank) Hill, Mildred Case & in-laws: Felix S.A Leon Guerrero, Maria (George) Duenas, Joyce (Craig) Eddings, Elias (Celina) Sablan, Anthony (Cheryl) Sablan, Daniel (Michelle) Sablan and Carmen (Pito) Leon Guerrero. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family by all whom he loved.
Though we mourn his death and miss him dearly, his amazing spirit and wonderful memories will continue to be cherished in the hearts of all his family and friends.
His Funeral Mass is on Friday February 9th at 10:00 AM at Santa Sophia Parish.
